Dental Treatments

Dr. Ahmed carries out all disciplines of preventative, prosthetic and restorative dental care with an emphasis on root canal treatment and implant restorations. Click on the links for further information.

Periodontal Gum Treatment

The regular removal of  bacteria, plaque and tartar is essential to maintain healthy gums which is the foundation of teeth and hence the foundation of all dental treatment.

Routine Dental Treatment

Involves the use of tooth coloured composite fillings, porcelain or gold inlays to treat mild to moderately damaged teeth. The use of silver amalgam fillings can be minimized with the advent of modern dental materials.

Root Canal Treatment

When teeth are severely broken down and/or painful then root canal fillings are placed to prolong the survival of a tooth. Teeth which are root treated are often crowned to restore the function and aesthetics of the tooth. The use of modern Nickel-Titanium instruments ensures quicker, comfortable and consistent results.

Crown and Bridge

Crowns can be used to restore weakened teeth and bridges to replace missing teeth. Materials available include metal free all-ceramic, porcelain bonded to metal and gold.

Dental Implants

Dental implants can be used to support and retain crowns, bridges or dentures to replace missing teeth. They are by far the ideal long term option to replace missing teeth.

Cosmetic Dentistry

This is treatment carried out specifically to improve the appearance of the smile. Bleaching, tooth coloured composites, porcelain veneers and crowns and simple re-contouring the teeth can improve the shape, colour and alignment of teeth.

Partial and complete dentures

These are artificial replacements of missing teeth, if dental implants or bridges are not suitable for this purpose. The use of Cobalt Chromium metal frameworks ensures strength, stability and comfort

A ‘scale and polish’ cleans your teeth very thoroughly. Scaling removes the hard tartar which forms on your teeth like scale inside a kettle. Scaling also removes trapped food and plaque containing millions of germs which can cause tooth decay and gum disease. Polishing removes stains from coffee, tea, cigarettes and red wine.

Root planning

This is ‘deep’ scaling to clean parts of the teeth below the gum line which cannot be reached with a tooth brush. Root planning cleans out the deep pockets which form in advanced gum disease. Your mouth is often treated in sections in multiple visits and may be done under local anaesthetic. After a tooth has been root planed, the pocket should shrink, making the gum sit closer to the tooth.

Other Specialities

Occasionally, teeth may need treatment specific to other specialities in dentistry. If your treatment can benefit from their expertise, then a consultation can be arranged and a report prepared to your specific treatment needs.
